IKE Doesn't Stop Derbies - What a Weekend!

Well the points chase is on!!!! Vavra is closing in on Clarke as he made the trip to Western fair for "Bling in the Ring"! Becker is sizing up his competition: Carter, Frost, and Cronkwright. The Rollovers are one hit of the ramp apart for top spot. It is coming down to the last few weeks and it will be a race to the end to see who will be the 2008 TSPI / EDGE Points Champions. It was a rainy weekend with Hurricane Ike storming through, but we had an outstanding car count at all the Fairs, thanks to the support of Brampton & Binbrook Fairs, & Willson Auto Tech.

Brampton Thursday night had 30 Mini's for the Lucas Oil Figure 8 Racing Series show up to do battle, with Mike Wettlaufer coming out as the champion over all the top points race drivers.
Friday night Binbrook was on, with 52 cars showing up to do battle in the trenches. With rain pouring and cars roaring .....Reg Bonneau hit his stride with his third big win in the last two weekends and took home the first prize of $1500.
Saturday night in Brampton, 18 Lucas Oil Figure 8's made the drive as well as 10 Straight Stocks and 5 extremely tough Pro Cars. Clarke went out 4th with a busted tie rod and Dave Vavra took the win to make the points race even tighter.
Saturday night Binbrook, bad weather again but the cars still showed up for the famous Saturday night Wreckfest. Greg Willson came out on top after a tough battle with the Daniels brothers. Binbrook you're up for Derby Capital.......who cares about Hurricane Ike!
Western Fair capped the weekend with the long awaited "Bling in the Ring", brought to you by Sanders Pro Distributors and Jock Shields Driving School. 20 tough Pro drivers showed up (PLEASE EXCLUDE THE BINBROOK BOYS AS THEIR CARS WERE TOO BENT TO PLAY ON SUNDAY) and 13 more Straight Stocks made this a definite crowd pleaser. With Joe Crow side lined after his heat with a blown engine and Jeff Lavigne unable to return for the feature, the stage was set for Boyer and Vavra. After a long fight it was Vavra who took the win. '350' Rob Clark took the Straight Stock win. Special thanks to Aim Medical Centre for the gift certificate for a half hour chiropractor visit, that went to the straight stock winner.
For a weekend of rain all we can say at TSPI is WOW! You drivers were great, rain or shine! Bring it on !!
